Mystery of the Vanishing Present (Murphy, Elspeth Campbell. Ten Commandments Mysteries.)
Published in Paperback by Chariot Family Pub (March, 1988)
Authors: Elspeth Campbell Murphy, Elspeth Campbell Murpht, and Chris Wold Dyrud

The Vanishing Present
My little girl really enjoyed this wholesome Christian book. This is one in a series about Three Cousins Detective Club. Each mystery teaches the meaning of one of the Ten Commandements. I highly recommend these little books.

I hear that the 10 Commandments series is being reprinted!
Does anyone have any information about this? I certainly hope that it is true. My kids devoured these books, which are now being held together by masking tape. If anyone reading this has any information, please pass it on.

Northrop P-61 Black Widow: The Complete History and Combat Record
Published in Paperback by Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. (January, 1995)
Authors: Garry R. Pape, John M., Donna Campbell, and John M. Campbell
Average review score:

The most comprehensive book currently available on the P-61.
This is a book filled with good photographs. The cover photo itself is unusual and striking. The authors begin with some background history of radar (prior to 1940), it being integral to this aircraft. They then move on to aircraft development, crew training, deployment, and finally, post war usage. Along the way they have unit histories, and some very interesting individual recollections (P-61 vs. P-47 is a highlight). Additionally the inclusion of information on field modifications is good (one squadron moved the radar operator and his equipment to the gunner's position). Somewhat disappointingly the authors don't provide three view drawings of the major variants so they can be visually compared. It would also have been useful to know what the original performance specifications issued by the Army Air Corps were so the reader would know how close Northrop came to "hitting the mark". Also more on: aircraft layout (eg. fuel tank locations), construction (eg. were unusual materials used?), and flight test anecdotes, recollections, and data would also be welcome to explain the reasons for variant evolution, color scheme change, etc. The book ends with six appendices including an extensive bibliography. All in all, while it is not as definitive as the title might imply or as I would have wished, this is the most comprehensive book currently available on the P-61. Anyone interested in the "Black Widow" should own this book.

Incredible quality, What aviation books should be.
Very high quality. Glossy paper. Jet black print. Pictures look like a million bucks. If you are a fan of the Black Widow you will not be disappointed. Also has some great color photos of the postwar military and civilian Black Widows. Much better value than the P-61 warbird tech series book that is printed with grey ink and bargin basement paper. I agree with the thorough review below this review

Out-Smarting Your Karma: And Other Preordained Conditions
Published in Paperback by Epic Century Pub (October, 1996)
Authors: Barry Neil Kaufman and Laurie Campbell
Average review score:

Humorous and Wise
One of the quickest ways to describe this book, the presentation is not heavy handed or didactic. The illustrations help make the messages clear without uneeded explanation. Fairly brilliant.

Outsmarting Your Karma
Very insightful. A quick reference book on life that can be read over and over.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Published in Paperback by Ballantine Books (September, 1995)
Authors: Campbell Black and Campbell Clark
Average review score:

I was brought up on the movie....
To me Indiana Jones is Harrison Ford, brown leather, and fedora.
When reading the book, i kept replaying the movie in my head of that scene.

Nevertheless, reading this book, I do recommend. It'll fill in gaps that the movie missed, and like all books will paint a much bigger picture that does a movie.

Forget the Movie!! Black scores another 10!
Black, Black, Black! Where are you and what's next? "Raiders" is much better than the movie ever was. Fast paced wtih an Indiana Jones that goes well beyond the two dimensional Harrison Ford interpertation. Black gives color and life to a most fictitious situation. Yes, this book is a must for any fan of adventure and intrigue! What this author does with a typewriter is something that can't be taught in school. Talent should be his middle name

Sam Johnson and the Blue Ribbon Quilt
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Author: Lisa Campbell Ernst
Average review score:

Humorous look at men and quilting
This humorous picture book reminds children that men not only did the chores on the farm, but actually did some sewing and quilting - and that joining forces with their wives helps solve a near-disaster when the quilts fall into the mud. The drawings are clear and colorful, and the resulting creation will inspire everyone.

A great way to demonstrate sewing is for boys and girls!
I read this book to my sixth grade Home Economics sewing classes. They love it and I enjoy introducing some literacy into my classroom. We discuss how working to gether can solve problems. It is a great book to show boys that sewing is not just for girls!

Skeet Shooting With D.Lee Braun: A Remington Sportsman's Library Book
Published in Paperback by Benjamin Co (January, 1900)
Author: Robert Campbell
Average review score:

Fantastic Fundamentals
I had this book when it first came out in the 1960's and I loved it. I was first getting interested in skeet shooting and was a young boy. I have re-entered the sport recently and I pulled out my old copy to refresh myelf of the fundamentals. The book was published in the mid 60's so it is dated in its rules and of course, in its photos, but the reader who loves this sport should find it all very interesting. The material it contains on fundamentals is the meat of the book. These fundamentals are critical to learn. The book presents them very well with concise descriptions of foot positions, gun point, where to break the clay target, and most importantly, what to see in your sight picture, and how large a lead to take. Braun does this on each station of the skeet field with well written descriptions, photos and diagrams as well. I highly recommend this publication, my copy had a pullout map of things to do at each station with handy pointers that will make things click for the reader who is a skeet shooter.

Excellent
I just bought my second copy after losing my original 35 year old copy. Paid a premium, but it was worth every penny. Too bad this book is out of print. This book taught me how to play the game and led me to my first 25 straight. I stopped playing the game for a long time, but now that I'm coming back, I trust this book to start me out right for the 2nd time.

The sports car : its design and performance
Published in Unknown Binding by Chapman and Hall ()
Author: Colin Campbell
Average review score:

Old info, but still valuable
This book, like the others Colin Campbell has written are loftily written and quite valuable in the technical data provided. The book has many schematic drawings of carburetors, Aston-Martin motors, Porsche motors, etc, and delves into the specific math and physics of each component of a sports car.

It is not a book for learning how to fix your sports car, but it is an excellent starting point for understanding the design and performance issues.

All in all, it is enjoyable and rich reading for any enthusiast.

Good book that needs to be updated
Great book, great drawings and tables. I found it very informative. We need more books like this.

Step-By-Step to Natural Food
Published in Paperback by C C Publishers (June, 1981)
Author: Diane Campbell
Average review score:

Very informative
This book, while overpriced for the condition and binding, was indeed very helpful in our quest for natural healthy food. A lot of good recipes as well as information on grains, fruits, vegetables and other ingredients.

An excellent book if you want to cook "healthy."
This book, which I've used for years, contains menus, recipes, and very helpful information about vitamins and minerals (including in which foods we can find them). Under the "Vegetable" section, we are shown ways to prepare 97 different vegetables. I am ordering one as a gift.

Systematic Theology
Published in Hardcover by Scripture Pr Pubns (August, 1988)
Authors: Lewis Sperry Chafer, Donald K. Campbell, and Roy B. Zuck
Average review score:

Thorough, but not an easy read
Clearly Chafer documented a good systemization of Dispensational Theology. ("Systemization" refers to fitting various doctrines together. Without this exercise, a collection of beliefs may well be self-contradicting.) It is very thorough and covers all aspects of systematic theology. However, Chafer's writings are not inspired, and not infallible. (No extra-Biblical writings are.) He does hold to an aspect of the Gap theory -- not uncommon for those of his era.

I recommend it be included in any good personal library. It is an excellent resource for Biblical positions based on literal interpretation of scripture. (This literal hermeneutic leads to the Dispensational position. Mixing alagorical interpretation leaves the interpreter as the ultimate authority, choosing when God meant exactly what He said, and when to alagorize and as such determining what God really meant. This literal non-literal hermeneutic leads to the Covenant position.)

For me this set was the text book for a 3-year series of theology courses.

A MUST for every serious Bible student
Chafer's eight volume Systematic Theology is skillfully written from a premillinnial, dispensational view. He not only beautilfully covers all the disciplines from Theology Proper to Eschatology, but also the various uses of the word "theology" as well as the eight Biblical Covenants and the Dispensations. It is a comprehensive work on each topic but not written in a lofty manner which would be tedious for the reader. Chafer has made the study of Systematic Theology alive and exciting.
